“If you’re feeling overwhelmed, try to focus on one thing at a time. Realistically you can’t get everything done in one go. Prioritizing will help all the goals feel less overwhelming. Additionally, try not to worry about other people’s reactions or feelings of you because ultimately that’s out of your control. Try to focus on yourself and what you can do for your own happiness.” Company Member Tara Charvat “Immerse yourself into the new opportunities of the New Year. Leave the challenges, upsets and missed chances behind in 2021.” Company Member Lillie Hamilton “In general, I’m a big goal setter and especially so with my dance career. In 2022, I’m going to really solidify what my concrete dance goals are. From there, I’m going to outline a plan of things I can do in my everyday life to reinforce the dance goals alongside the things I will do in the studio. I invite you to do the same with me. Outlining goals in any part of your life is a great way to continue forward when things get tough.” Senior Company Member Alex Hlavaty “Find boundaries by saying no to things that add to your stress but not your quality of life or goals. Intentionally create space for yourself and happiness by putting down electronics and taking the time to be present.” Apprentice Maddie Parker “Thank your body for the work that it’s done today because not everyone gets to move everyday.” Apprentice Áine Dorman “Use social media as a positive thing, go through who you’re following and weed out the negative accounts that may make you feel negatively about your life or self in any way. Only bring the accounts that promote positivity in your life into 2022.” Company Member Emy Bezbatchenko “When you’re lacking inspiration, seek resources! No one expects you to find all your inspiration from within. Talk to people about your roadblocks, seek videos and photos and don’t be afraid to take a step back until you find the motivation or inspiration you need to take a big leap forward.” Company Member Kyle Halford “Try to see the bigger picture of things. Try to avoid the narrow tunnel of corrections and negativity. Time is always moving forward in the same way that you’re always working toward something larger than the moment you’re in.” Apprentice Nirvan Singh “Open ears and open heart. Listen to those around you, whether it be your friends, teachers, peers or parents. You never know what others are going through and can learn so much from listening! Your teachers in class have so much insight to give, and you never know who else you can relate to when going through tough times in life.” Senior Company Member Brooke Mainland
