CALL FOR CHOREOGRAPHERS
Eisenhower Dance Detroit (EDD) is seeking Detroit-native choreographers with experience in contemporary and commercial dance to create a new work set to a suite of Motown music for our professional company. The piece must include a dedicated section in which community dancers share the stage with Eisenhower Dance Detroit.
A $10,000 choreography honorarium will be awarded (Must provide own housing and travel.)
Application Process & Timeline
May 15, 2026: Choreography submissions due
June 12, 2026: Finalists announced
July 19, 2026 (Detroit): Community audition (finalists will be invited to attend, assist with the audition process, and teach their choreography to participating dancers)
July 25, 2026: Final choreographer selected
The selected choreographer will be in residence with EDD for three weeks in late winter/early spring 2027 to create the work. The premiere will take place in Detroit as part of our season finale concert, “Sounds of Detroit,” in spring 2027.
