NewDANCEfest | July 7-21, 2019
NewDANCEfest is a multidimensional festival, which brings artists at various levels of the profession together. Opportunities are provided for Established Choreographers, Emerging Choreographers and Dancers to create and study in a rich, rewarding and artistic environment. Choreographers are given time and space to create new works, and Dancers are given professional training and the experience of mentoring with some of the best professionals in the dance world. NewDANCEfest will provide daily technique classes in a variety of styles, choreography seminars, discussion forums, critique sessions, mentorship opportunities, informal showings and performances. The festival will be located in the beautiful city of Rochester, Michigan with classes for the Intermediate/Advanced Division (ages 10-15) held on the campus of Oakland University. Classes for the Advanced/Professional Division (ages 16 and up) will be held at The School of Eisenhower Dance Detroit located at 103 South Street. Housing for all participants is available on the Campus of Oakland University for an additional cost.

CHOOSE FROM THREE FOCUSED DIVISIONS-
This division of NewDANCEfest is an intense summer DANCE! experience rich in technique, choreography and performance. With daily classes in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, and Repertory, our faculty will provide a caring and inclusive environment with a focus on technical and artistic growth. Experience the creative process by working with Emerging and Master Choreographers on the creation of an original work set during the intensive and performed at the NDF Gala on Friday, July 19th at Varner Recital Hall, Oakland University and in the NDF Choreography Showcases on July 20-21, 2019 at the Laboratory Theater, 103 South Street, Rochester, MI.

This division of NewDANCEfest will provide participants, ages 16 and older, with daily technique classes (ballet or contemporary) and daily lessons learning useful composition skills with master choreographers focusing on the choreographic process. In addition, participants can take advantage of the opportunity to apply and be selected as one of our four Emerging Choreographers. The four selected Emerging Choreographers will receive rehearsal time with a cast of dancers and space to CREATE an original work. There will also be daily showings and mentorship with professional choreographers. The work will be showcased at the NDF Choreography Showcases on July 20-21, 2019 at Eisenhower Dance Detroit’s Laboratory Theatre, 103 South Street, Rochester, MI.
4th Annual NewDANCEfest CHOREOGRAPHY SHOWCASE- Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21.
An exciting opportunity for established choreographers to showcase a completed work. The showcase is open to all artists at the college and professional level. All styles of dance are welcome. The application must be complete to be considered. See requirements below.
NDF Choreography Showcase Submission Requirements:
- A video link(s) of the full, unedited work to be considered. Dances should be no longer than 15 min in length. Choreographers should send no more than two dances for consideration.

-A $20 application fee
Selected choreographers will receive a $100 stipend.
Selected choreographers will participate in showcases on Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21. Applicants must be available for both days.
Dancers performing in adjudicated works are invited to register for the DANCE division of the festival at a 50% discount.
