Eisenhower Dance Detroit has spent the past 27 years giving life to the repertoire of internationally known choreographers, as well as the highly acclaimed work of Founding Artistic Director Laurie Eisenhower. This year, Eisenhower Dance begins a new chapter as Stephanie Pizzo assumes the role of Artistic Director of Eisenhower Dance.  She plans to continue to expand the company's innovation and artistic vision while honoring the legacy of Eisenhower Dance's founder. Established in metro Detroit by Eisenhower in 1991, the Company presents an annual subscription series and tours internationally.  The company has performed works by choreographers Edgar Zendejas, David Parsons, Lar Lubovitch, Ron de Jesus, Gina Patterson, Lauren Edson and Harrison McEldowney, to name a few. The Company’s mission of collaboration has resulted in performances with the Michigan Opera Theatre, the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival, the Warren Symphony, the Immigrant Suns, Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings, the Rackham Symphony Choir, the Motor City Lyric Opera and the Toledo Opera, among others.

Eisenhower Dance has produced several full-evening length touring productions. These include Motown in Motion, a visual salute to the tunes that made Motown Records famous; The Rite of Spring set to Igor Stravinsky’s iconic score ; and the Company’s newest production, The Light Show, which pairs four choreographers with four lighting designers for a visually stunning evening of dance.

Eisenhower Dance Centers

In September of 1995, Eisenhower Dance opened the doors to the Eisenhower Dance Center to serve as a home-base for the Company and to house its educational programs. The Centers now include two schools in Rochester and Birmingham, MI, which offer classes for both the pre-professional and recreational dancer. To learn more about the Centers click here.

We wish to extend our sincere gratitude to Government Agencies, Corporations, Foundations, and Individuals who have helped make Eisenhower Dance Detroit's performances & educational programs possible.
