Eisenhower Dance is a contemporary repertory dance company based in the Detroit Metropolitan area. The Company boasts a diverse repertory by nationally-known choreographers. Repertory has included works by Edgar Zendejas, David Parsons, Lar Lubovitch, Ron de Jesus, Ahmad Simmons, Gina Patterson, Jamey Hampton, Harrison McEldowney, David Dorfman, Stephanie Pizzo and artistic director Laurie Eisenhower, among many others.
A dancer must be a U.S. citizen or have a valid work visa that allows him/her to work for at least two years to be considered. It is preferable to have dancers audition in person and priority is given to those in attendance; however, if you are a highly skilled professional and not able to make one of the scheduled auditions, video submissions will be accepted if they are posted online and submitted prior to the first audition. Videos must include a dance combination in both ballet and contemporary, as well as a performance video. Video reels with overdubbed music are not acceptable. The videos should be accompanied by a cover letter and resume. Please send video audition links or audition questions to Stephanie Pizzo at email@example.com.
Mature dancers should have a strong background in ballet and modern technique, along with performance experience. Ability to relocate to the Detroit area and transportation is required for Company members. Dancers are contracted from Mid-August through June. The contract length is variable but is generally between 40-45 weeks with national and international touring. Apprentice positions and Summer Intensive acceptance will also be considered during the audition.
Auditionees should arrive ready to learn movement phrases from Eisenhower Dance’s current repertory. Warm-up will not be provided. Finalists will be interviewed following the audition. Please register online by filling out the online audition form (above). Audition fees are not required.
